      Head of Technology for Healthcare

      Kainos are seeking a Head of Technology to work as part of its Healthcare sector leadership team.

      Kainos is a leading digital services provider for the healthcare sector, with over 250 staff working on projects at local, regional and national levels for NHS and other clients across the UK and Ireland.       Our work in the health sector includes researcher and participant onboarding services for clinical research organisations such as Genomics England, Our Future Health and NIHR as well as national patient facing digital services for NHS England, Public Health Wales and HSCNI, such as the NHS App, the UK’s flagship digital health service, that we led from discovery to live, as well as the UKHSA Contact Tracing Advisory Service and NHS Digital’s COVID-19 Digital Testing Services. Our Evolve electronic medical record product is live in 35 Trusts and over 100 hospitals.

      Reporting to our Healthcare Sector Lead, we have a team of 250, with offices in London, Birmingham, Belfast, Gdansk and embrace hybrid working for all our people at Kainos.

      As the driver for the Technology strategy within the Healthcare sector, the successful individual will be excited about this domain and bring a depth of experience in the sector. This includes an understanding of the problems and opportunities, the technical challenges, key standards and common products, such as the impact of the latest NHS Data Strategy.

      The core responsibilities include setting the technology direction, providing trusted technical advice to the business and C-level clients, maintaining a competitive edge over other technology services providers, developing and nurturing technical talent across the organisation and representing Kainos as a technology evangelist.

      Key responsibilities of this role are:

      • Strategy - Working with others to ensure delivery and conducting of strategic market and technical analysis to recommend on where and how Kainos should target its growth and impact across the Healthcare sector.
      • Business Development - Identifying business development opportunities to solve customer issues, inspiring customer and colleagues with the market opportunity
      • Innovation - Researching and qualifying current and future technologies, making technology investments, guiding and role modelling a culture of innovation.
      • Delivery - Responsible for technical delivery, providing assurance and engaging directly in strategic accounts.
      • People Development - Identifying, mentoring, coaching, and developing technical talent and fostering a culture of wellbeing and inclusion for goal achievement.
      • Communication - Articulating intricate technical points to non-technical people including C-suite, fostering excitement for potential of new technologies, and representing Kainos' technology voice externally while engaging with the broader tech ecosystem.

      Minimum (Essential) requirements:

      • Extensive strategic healthcare industry and technology experience, preferably from a Services/ Consulting background
      • Knowledge and a good awareness of emerging technology trends and innovation
      • Critically assess market trends and impact of change. Experience driving adoption of emerging technologies and approaches, effectively balancing risk and reward and guiding organisations to appropriate adoption.
      • Experience of exceptional team management inspiring and influencing others
      • Ability to develop business opportunities, in conjunction with a wider sales team
      • Experience of being the technology owner and responsible for complex technology projects to production and delivering positive outcomes. Including examining, architecting, estimating through to iteration in production
